(Second year project)
This project brief involves designing a small capsule collection specifically to attract the Gen Z consumer future fans. This project will showcase a range for female fans who support Chelsea FC. This will begin with in-depth research of the football club, market, consumer, trends and sustainability issues to undertsand the concept and then the research will be used as inspiration to design six looks in this Chelsea FC collection. The range will be 15-20 garments and accesories, along with one look made to completion.
The dominant focus of this football fans project is sustainability. To achieve circular waste and sustainable practices, the final collection will be completely upcycled from old and unused clothing, with elements of zero-waste. The waste from the garments will be shredded and used as wadding for the padded dog coat - showcasing and re-demonstrating circular design.
This project will focus on Gen Z female fan wear who support Chelsea Football club. Going against the typical masculine football fan-wear will be a focus of this project, as well as including colours, patterns and textures. There will be a clear blue and white colour theme as a result on focusing on Chelsea FC, along with pink, considering pink is the dominant colour of the Chelsea FC S/S24 collection. Anthem jackets will also be a key topic of research, as well as celebrating the kits of Chelsea from 1986 to 2005.
Another aspect of this project delves into pub culture whithin the UK, where fans gather together in the pubs to watch the game. In additon, Chelsea FC provides a range of dog coats, and this will be another addition to the project as the pet industry has grown massively and the project concept involves watching football in the pub with dogs.
